EUROGRADE SAFE RATINGS

The Eurograde system is a leading security classification applied to high-security safes, specifically designed to offer an ideal solution for both homeowners and businesses that need to securely store cash and valuables.

These safes are manufactured to precise standards and undergo a rigorous testing process to earn a Eurograde rating ranging from 0 to 7, with Eurograde 7 providing the highest level of resistance to attacks. Generally, the higher the rating, the greater the protection against theft and burglary, which often leads insurance companies to cover higher amounts for cash and valuables.

The Eurograde rating signifies a "cash rating," which considers factors such as wall thickness, the number of locks, and their quality. Cash ratings also determine the value of items that can be insured by these safes. For every £1,000 in cash, the equivalent value of valuables that can be covered is ten times that amount.

When determining the appropriate Eurograde rating, it's essential to understand that the coverage for valuables is not in addition to the maximum cash rating; a balance must be struck if you intend to store both cash and valuables.

For instance, a Eurograde 3 safe allows for either £350,000 worth of valuables or £50,000 in cash, or a combination of both—for example, £50,000 in cash and £300,000 in valuables.

Eurograde testing criteria involve assessing the duration required to achieve partial or complete access to the safe, alongside evaluating its fire resistance. To ensure the validity of the Eurograde, all safes weighing less than 1,000 kg must be securely anchored to the ground.
